Meet Chris Murphy

Chris Murphy graduated from Saint Mary's College with a degree in History in 1995. He began his teacher career in 1996 and has been teaching at Amador Valley High School since 1998.  Beginning in 2002, Mr. Murphy built the AP World History course which expanded kids opportunities at Amador Valley to take Advanced Placement classes.  This was also the first year that the College Board offered the course.  In addition, he has worked directly for the College Board grading the exams during the summer.

These experiences give him valuable insights about the course and the exam and while there are no short cuts, there are several strategies that can help build the foundation for academic success in AP World History.

Why might YOU need this class?

  • This AP World Bootcamp program will lay the foundation for success in a demanding  year-long AP World History for incoming sophomores.

  • AP World History is typically the first opportunity for incoming sophomore to engage with an AP class.

  • Unlike a College prep class which has curriculum designed by the state and is intended to prepare kids to go college, the AP platform is designed to be a college class with a more rigorous set of writing and content standards.

  • The  class requires a college level text, timed writing and specific historical thinking skills.

  • A student can be easily overwhelmed at the outset and this summer bootcamp can provide them with a huge advantage.
